bic;; "I... thank you," Ashley said, a faint dusting of red appearing on his otherwise pale cheeks. Mathieu smiled at him with a nod, lightly brushing a strand of hair from his face.

Foriden nodded and returned to his mealtime company. Charlie entered the galley then, starting for his designated place, a meal set on the table. He sat with a sigh, shaking his head. "Something wrong, Charlie?" inquired Nuri as he sipped his rum gingerly. Charlie narrowed his eyes. "Blake." "Blake? What's wrong this time?" "She's refusing to come and eat." "And why is that?" "Tomorrow's the anniversary." "Of his death?" Charlie nodded. "The captain knows that as well." Nuri just exhaled. "Well, I guess it's PMS bitch day tomorrow." Caviesse promptly whacked him upside the head. "Nuri! How would you feel if someone you loved, ended up dying?" Nuri thought about this a moment. "I don't love anyone, so I wouldn't know." Caviesse scowled. "Idiot." "What?!" "I suppose you have a point," Charlie mumbled, sighing. "But it's not like she's the only one. My wife left back for England with or without me. And with our daughter."* Caviesse pursed her lips. "That sucks." "She won't even let me see her," Charlie put in then. He pushed his plate of food away. "Do you know how hard that is?" The two others shook their heads. "At least Blake's lover died. With Elizabeth (yes, that was her name - Charlie and Blake are from a former role play I did with one of my other friends) not allowing me to see Cassandra..." Charlie lowered his chin. "When someone dies, they're gone for good. When someone leaves, they're still alive and well, but have moved on to something else. She left to become an aristocrat in her homeland, which, I personally cannot blame her. The life of a pirate was trying on all of us, especially after the Pride sunk. But...." "Don't worry, we get it," Nuri assured. Charlie swallowed. "Just eat something, Charlie. I'm sure the Captain and Tenaiya will force her to eat later," Caviesse put in, smiling. "You're right...." Charlie mumbled, pulling his plate back toward him.
Across the room, Foriden was watching the exchange, eyes narrowing slightly. "Do you want me to speak with her?" The Captain glanced at the woman beside him. "I'm not sure." "You know how she gets around this time of the year. She doesn't eat or do, well, anything, for a good week!" "Then we make her busy." "She won't do anything." Foriden exhaled, beginning to fiddle with his fork. "Troublesome...."

Mathieu stood, his eyes travelling over the pirates that were assembled in the room. "We shall start cleaning, yes?" He asked, his voice easy to miss in the crowd of talking criminals. Ashley stood up, adjusting his glasses lightly. "Of course," he said before weaving in between the crowds of people, checking to see if they were done, Mathieu following in behind him. In the crowd of pirates, a pair of eyes followed their every movie. Alerick Jones sat at one of the tables, swinging the tip cup around his index finger.

"Hey," Ashton elbowed Alerick gently. "Stop watching them like a vulture; it's disturbing." The blonde took a swig of his ale before standing, stretching a little. "Well, I'm on watch so I gotta get out there. Violet, let's go." The young redhead nodded, leaping from her place and starting up for the crows nest.

Alerick snorted. "Why?" He demanded sharply. "Why does everyone just instantly trust that guy? He's a fucking aristocrat, you idiots! Everyone knows what aristocrats are like."

"We trust our Captain," Amelia pointed out, flicking Alerick in the forehead. "Our Captain is a good judge of character. And besides; what good can he do? Merrina, Sivatul, Selviana and I were there when we took the piano. He's a softie. A big, aristocrat softie. But that doesn't mean we trust the man." "On the contrary. We're wary, and are making sure he earns his keep for even setting foot on our ship," LaBeau pointed out.

Alerick growled something unintelligible. "Yeah, well, you deal with it your way, and I'll deal with it mine. Besides, as long as my brother hangs around him..."

"You're beginning to act like Foriden or Charlie with Blake," Amelia drawled monotonously. "It's ridiculous."

Alerick shivered. "Right, well, you can't really blame me for wanting to watch my brother, can you? I mean, again, we barely know the guy!"

"I'm sure he'll be fine, so calm down," Merrina insisted. "Aristocrats can't do much, and from what I gather, they wouldn't do anything pirate-like to kids."

Alerick shrugged. "Yeah, I... I guess," he said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry, then. Just... paranoid. Nothing really bad has happened to us in awhile, and it's making me nervous."

"Don't be. Our crew is one of the best around," Amelia announced matter-of-factly. "Honestly, did you see how they treated us when we got to Dalian?"

Alerick grinned roguishly. "'Course I did - like kings!" There was a definite undertone of sarcasm to his voice as he said that, though.
"Were you born in Dalian?" Ashley looked up at Mathieu's question. The young blonde was bringing a rag up to scrub the dishes lightly, occasionally brushing strands of wavy hair from his face. "No - I was born overseas." "Oh..."

Merrina punched him - hard - before returning to her food. After a little while longer, Foriden and Tenaiya moved out of the galley, followed by the rest of the crew who filed out slowly after that, until there was no one left except for Ashley and Mathieu. That was, until, Blake came down the steps silently, approaching the two with a great sense of unease about her. "Any food left?" she asked, unusually quiet for a pirate.
