Mathieu darted to the porthole as the thunder lashed through the air, whipping at the sales outside as the wind picked up. "I hope your piano's bolted down," he told Ashley grimly. The aristocrat just nodded, expression slightly pained. "The Tempest," he said, before beginning to hum a tune under his breath - glissando and crescendo interlocking with each other as his hands returned to the keyboard, matching the winds of the storm with notes and glided up and down; notes that started and ended harshly; notes that seemed to melt into each other, catching the heart of the storm. Mathieu watched quietly, his eyes wide. The cabin rattled slightly, but the nobleman didn't seem to miss a note. "Mon Dieu..." Mathieu said, before a pounding at the door made him whirl around. "Oi, Mattie, c'mon! The Captain'll have our hides if we don't move now!" Alerick's grin was there, but his eyes were grave (if somewhat unfocused). His blonde hair was sopping wet and dripping on the floor, with tendrils stuck to his face. His shirt was soaked through, plastering itself to his skin, and Mathieu sighed with the unfairness of it all - his brother was built, and there was no denying it. "Al! You've been drinking!" Mathieu cried suddenly, smelling the alcohol on the other man's breath. "That's why I need you to help me, Mattie," Alerick admitted. Mathieu nodded, and the two of them were out the door, running down the wooden corridors until they ran up the stairs and onto the deck. Alerick burst through first, making his way to the rigging. "We have to tie down the sails, or they'll rip, and we'll be sitting ducks in the water!" Alerick's voice struggled to be heard over the howling wind as he wrapped one hand in the black ropes and proceeded to haul himself up to the masts, Mathieu following behind him.
ooc;; I fucking love storms, damnit. I apologize.

ooc: xD I don't bic: "Alerick, what the hell are you doing?!" Amelia shouted to him. "You're going to kill us all if you go around drunk like that! Get below deck and sleep it off! We'll handle this!" Merrina just ignored them as she proceeded to work, moving as agile as a cat across the wooden beams. She had the first sail tied within moments, and was already working for the next.

ooc;; One person can't tie down a whole sail.
bic;; "I'm not always as drunk as I appear," came the delayed reply. "Besides, Mattie's got my back, aye, Mattie!" "Yes, Al."

ooc: She had unmentioned help x3
bic: Amelia shook her head. "If you do something to jeopardize this crew, Tenaiya'll have your head!" And with that said, she started off for the next area. "GET THE MAIN SAIL," Evaren could be heard yelling from nearby as she spun the wheel to avoid a large wave. Nuri and Sivatul were already moving over in that direction, followed by the aid of Selviana who wasted no time in assisting to tie the large thing down.

ooc;; Oh, okay ^^ My brain was like: ?!?!?!?! It takes, like, seven normal sailors to tie down a whole sail! Cool, then (:
bic;; Alerick glared lightly at her. "I'll be fine!" He said as his hand slipped from the rope. He quickly reached back and entangled his wrist until his foothold was firm again before reaching the top, where he and Mattie inched across the long wooden poles and crouched down, fighting to keep their footing as they reeled in the white sails.
"Mr. Emmerich!" Fylis crashed into the door as the ship rolled again. Ashley was at the door in moments. "I... excuse me?" "My name's Fylis, and I need your help! Everyone's outside securing the ship, but I need help with tying down the stuff in the hull!" "The..." "The cannons! The cannonballs! The cutlery in the kitchen!" Ashley nodded. "Right." He closed the door quickly behind him and followed Fylis down the hall. "Fylis! What the hell is he doing here?!" "He's the only one not on deck, Aerin, so shut up and let's get this done!" Said the unusually fierce Fylis.

Alerick glanced over at her. "I'll be fine, Merri!" He called back. "It's the only way to tie the sails down! Besides, heroes don't die, yeah?" Mattie reached up to shield his eyes from the rain and wind that battered his face and body. He hated storms. He really did. He tried pulling at the arms of his wet black shirt, but it only stuck to his arms and torso again. He thanked God that he wasn't wearing white like his brother (or some of the women, he thought with a blush) for when the white material got wet and stuck, it was more like a second skin, leaving nothing to the imagination. Mathieu blushed again, shaking his head and returning to the work, concentrating hard. It was this little detail that made him overlook the loose rope to his left. When he reached out to drag the sail in more, the rope suddenly moved, and Mathieu screamed as he felt himself slipping off the horizontal wooden pole. He was hardly surprised when his brother moved forward to catch him - after all, brotherhood worked both ways, and Mathieu had saved Alerick's life plenty of times - but the rain water made keeping the necessary footing hard, and soon Alerick himself was struggling to maintain balance. "Damnit, Mathieu, hold on!" He called, and Mathieu nodded, squeezing his eyes shut and holding on as if for dear life, terror churning in his gut as he could feel his hand slipping, the rain water slick like lube or grease.

ooc: Hrm...maybe we should do a Merrina/Alerick pairing instead...what say you? Sorry, I thought you left earlier :/
bic: Merrina leapt forward with widened eyes, grabbing hold of Alerick without a second thought. She held strong as much as she could. "Alerick! Get the fuck back up here!"

ooc;; I would have given you some form of advanced notice.
bic;; "I'm not letting go of my brother!" Came the hissed reply. "He just needs a little more leverage to grab onto the mast!"

ooc;; Yeah, sorry; I usually do when I'm going somewhere (ie. dance, piano, MT), though. Still, I was messed up on the timing today, too. Apparently it starts at 6:30, not 5:45, like I had thought.
bic;; "Sounded like it!" But his heart wasn't in the insult. Finally, Mathieu managed to get a secure hold on the yard, and as soon as his brother was steady, Alerick hugged. "Jesus, Mattie, you scared the shit out of me!" Alerick whispered, voice trembling slightly as he released his brother and held him at arms length. "Never do that to me again. You'll make me look bad if you die. What kind of hero can't save his own family?" Mathieu coughed weakly, but he smiled, sensing his brother's concern by the way he fell back to his old speech pattern (and preaches). "I have no intention, Al." Alerick sighed. "Yeah, well..." He grabbed the rope Mathieu had tripped on and used it to tie down the section of the sail. "Thanks, Merri."

Merrina nodded. "Try not to fall next time, hero." She grabbed the rope around another section, pulling it flush against the mast.

"I didn't fall!" Alerick said indignantly. Mathieu's eyes glimmered with amusement, though his cheeks were flushed, and he felt warm. Of course, the rain water would heat up when it hit his skin, and no doubt the adrenaline rush and got the blood pumping. "We've done all we can!" Soren yelled from one of the other yards. "We have to get down, or we're going to lose another crew member!"
